Lesson 1​

  • Tell students they will be making a skit about learning English at Country Cousins.

  • Discussion about drama and learning English. 

  • Show students the Berlitz and Grandpa videos to give them an idea of the skit. 

  • Ask students to use tablets to find more examples of commercials about learning English. 

  • Click on "How to make a skit" and go over the tips. Focus on headlines and ask students to skim through the contents. 

  • Ask students to make notes in workbooks (workshop pages 33-35).

Lesson 2

  • In groups of three or four students talk about their experience with host families.

  • Students brainstorm ideas for the skit.

  • Whole group - put students' ideas on the board. Discuss to modify ideas so that they are realistic to write and perform. Each group picks one idea to develop. 

  • In groups, students write a script for the skit.

Lesson 3

  • ​Play the "acting exercises" video. Ask students to do the exercises with the girl. Students should stand up to watch the video. 

  • Play the "pronunciation" video. Students listen and do the exercises. 

  • Students rehearse (they may record themselves for peer and self-correction). 

  • Performing in front of the whole group.
