Ask students to use pages 33-35 in the workbook to make notes

Lesson 1

  • General discussion about activism

  • Show students the "How to..." video and ask them to make a note of at least 3 inspirational sentences. Pause the video several times to allow students to make notes. Students may work in pairs. 

  • Whole group - ask individual students to read their sentences.

  • Click on the "How to..." link and go over the text with students. Ask them to note down main points. 

  • In pairs students tell each other how to become and activist

  • Click on the quiz. Ask students to copy the website address to the silk browser in the tablet and do the quiz.

Lesson 2

  • Tell students that they are going to plan a campaign to improve life in their local community.

  • Click on the TED talk video and show it to students for inspiration. Students do not need to understand everything - they should try and get the general idea. Play the video with subtitles for lower level students

  • Students brainstorm ideas what they could do for their local community.

Lesson 3

  • ​Students prepare a plan of action for their campaign. 

  • Some ideas: writing a petition and planning channels of distribution, planning a fund raising campaign, writing a speech, infomercial, designing an app or website etc.
